Morning folks. Just wanted to pop in and wish you a good weekend. Had a bit of a setback yesterday, but seem to be back on track. As long as it stays 2 steps forward, and only 1 back, I'm doing okay.

Probably see you Monday.

Morning folks. Well, another good day on my way back to some kind of normalcy. My friend came around and we ended up going out for a leisurely breakfast, and great visit re-driving some of the many miles he and I ran together. Not only that but he brought a fellow with him that I knew from the Alaska Highway days, that unbeknownst to me has been here in Quartzsite all winter. They are both going off today, one to Phoenix, and one to Congress AZ, but will be back next week and we'll get together again.

I felt so good after the visit I jumped on my trusty steed and headed out to the desert to see how my pet rattler was doing. The poor little guy was so glad to see me that he wagged the rattle off his tail.

Yes, this is an actual rattle I found on the ground here in the park. I'm told it is from a 6 yr old snake. Now that the weather has really warmed up I'd better start being careful where I walk, or stick my hand.

Sure feels good to be getting back into the swing of things, let's hope it continues. Take care of yourselves, and I'll see ya later.

Morning folks. Instead of answering your comments as I usually do, and enjoy, I'll just issue a blanket.....Thank you!

I forgot to mention yesterday that I had a visit on Monday with my ol' trucker buddy that had recently had a mild stroke. The surgery to clean the plaque from his carotid artery went well, and other than a little noticeable weakness on one side, he seems fine. He and his wife invited me over to their place last evening for a nice B.C. halibut dinner but I had to take a rain-check. They'll be here in Quartzsite until Friday, so there's still time. Besides, I really want to see his unit, a 38' wide-body Dynasty. Show-off! (not really)

As for me I'm slowly making my way back. Managed to get a bit done yesterday, laundry etc, went for a little walk, even cooked up a decent meal. For a while there I thought I was doomed to a life of eating out of dented cans.

Going to take my trusty steed out for a short run today, mainly to check the mail and pick up a few things at what passes for a store here. As I said, slowly, but much improved from a week ago.

Hope you're all well, and I'll see ya later.

Morning folks. As ordered, just checking in to say Hi. Had wanted to thank you all for your kind comments by linking to your sites, but just don't have the jam.

We'll get through this, with emphasis on the we. It continually amazes me how much of a positive difference you guys can make in my life. The thing I have to do is quit shutting you out when I'm hurtin'. I'll work on that.

See you soon, and thank you!

Morning folks. Oh my, where to start? I'm truly at a loss to explain my absence, other than going on about not feeling well. Been there, done that. I did seem to hit a wall as to posting, but that's a pretty lame excuse for not at least checking in. So please allow me to sincerely say:

It was not a good way to treat people that I know care, but believe me, I'm doing the best I can. The guilt that I'm feeling will hopefully ensure that it doesn't happen again. I went over a week without even opening my page, and when I finally did, and saw the comments, I felt bad. So, not to belabor the point, I apologize!

Things have been quiet around here, it seems we're all waiting for the warm weather to return. The park, along with the rest of the town, has thinned out since the big tent came down and the woolie creatures moved on. Other than going into town to shop (hah!) I haven't been riding my trusty steed too much, because part of what I'm going through is a loss of balance, and I sure don't need to fall off my mount at full gallop.

I have thought about de-camping and heading for B.C., where I have full medical coverage, but really, what's the point? I know what the problem is, have been told that it's inoperable, so what would I gain? Besides it's safer to ride things out here where I'm at least comfortable, than take a chance on having a major problem out on the road with the Bear. Plus, not wanting to be fatalistic, don't forget that I'm already 5 years past my "best by" date. Compared to the first 2 years, this is a snap.

Another point to mention is that since I opted to be a full-time RVer, wherever I am I'm "home". Through the magic of the internet I can maintain my fierce independence, and nomadic nature, yet stay in touch with family, real or blog. The best of both worlds.

So as you can see guys, it's not all bad. Once again, sorry for causing concern, and I'll try to do better. Appreciate each and every one of you!!

Morning folks. By the time you read this I'll be on my way to Algodones, Mexico. I'd like to be able to say that it is going to be a 'pour me another tequila, Sheila' trip, but the truth, as usual, is much more boring. In fact since I don't have a passport I won't even cross the border.

My friend and neighbor here in the park goes down once a month to buy his medications, so I'm going along to do some shopping at Wally-World in Yuma. He'll drop me off at the store, and while he does his chores I can get started, so that I don't hold him up.

While a simple thing like a trip to the store is no biggy for most people, after 4 months in this (don't say it Bob) I'm looking forward to finally getting to a real(?) store. I'm still not sorry that I didn't tow the car down, because other than running to Yuma or Parker to shop, there's nothing here I need it for. Besides the Quad makes more sense, I can do so much more with it than I could with the car.

As for how I'm feeling, well, I'm not yet ready to run a 4-minute mile, but I never wanted to do that anyway. The good news is that other than more pain than I need, I'm not worse. I'm hoping that as the weather finally starts to warm up I can get out on the trails with my trusty steed. Been a while since I checked on my pet rattler, hope he made it okay while I've been holed up. Hey, everybody needs a friend, right?

Hope you're all well, have a good weekend, and I'll see you Monday.

Morning folks, although I should say good afternoon since I am starting this on Sunday. The creative juices tap has been open for days, but the only thing coming out are little dribbles of natter, so what the hey, let's go with what we have. But first.....

You all know how I feel about the support I get here from all of you, and while I'm loath to single any one person out, in this case I don't hesitate. Dave has been a friend for what seems like forever, and when the guilt feelings about not visiting finally got to be too much for me on Friday I went over and I'm glad I did. If you want to read a heart-warming story, do yourself a favor and check his site out, not just for that story but for all that he puts on his site. Now, natter time...

Also on Friday, I "de-camped", took the Bear out on the big road (I-10), and stretched it's legs. As always it ran like a champion, right up to xx mph (better not say, might get my wrist slapped, but it was just under Mach 1). heh heh

On the way back I filled the propane tank, and that brings me to a big ol, hmmm. In the 4 months I've been here gasoline has gone down 20 cents/gal, and propane has gone up 80 cents/gal. Since most RVs are parked for the duration here, but using the furnace, stove, etc I suppose it could be said that we're a captive audience. This is just one of the many things that might make Quartzsite a 'been there, done that' experience.

Well, the Super Bore game will be starting in a couple of hours, and since I always root for the underdog....Go Giants! Wonder how the tail-gate parties will go with the big wind and rain storm on it's way in? The wind here is steady at 30 mph, and it's darker than the inside of a cow. Yep, here comes the rain, right on time. No problemo for me, I've got the awnings up, outdoor furniture in the storage shed, cold ones in the fridge, and the makings for a big ol' snack tray. Later.

Update..1:45 am

The big storm has passed, the snack tray was delicious, the cold ones turned out to be a Pepsi (what a wuss!), and my team won. I realize that professional sports are all about money, but it was nice of them to interrupt the commercials for a few minutes of football. Sheesh! Luckily there was a Law and Order marathon running on another channel.

Have a good week guys, take care of yourselves, and I'll see you on Thursday.

Morning folks. You might want to stand back, I think I'm having a runaway. 2 posts in 2 days, sheesh, what a suck-up!

I've long said that this blog thingy was almost therapeutic for me at times, and yesterday proved the point, for me at least. After finally getting over the hump and checking in, and realizing that I'm not alone in this struggle, it made a marked improvement in my outlook.

I never get what could be called depressed, but I sure as hell get tired of it, and that's where you guys come in. Time and again you've come through for me just by being there. It doesn't matter how tough a man is, or thinks he is, there are simply things that you can't healthily do on your own.

So guys, thanks for hangin' in with me, because I so want to get back to the fun we used to have on here with the DVs, Bush-whackin', etc. One day at a time.

Hope your weekend goes well, and I'll see you on Monday.
